Both the SBAC and PARCC consortia plan to have part of their summative assessments be “performance-based” (i.e., written) assessments that are “teacher-scored.” In addition to facilitating their work with the common assessments in Assessments21 and the formative assessments in Literary Companion, FineTune represents an exact model of the sort of professional development that will be required of teachers to prepare for their participation in that scoring.
